Cross striations are not evident in this SKELETAL MUSCLE - CROSS SECTION slide. However, it is much easier in this slide to distinguish the individual muscle fibers and to see the peripheral orientation of the nuclei.

In this higher power view, you can see the individual rounded skeletal muscle fibers, and the nuclei are evident at the periphery of the muscle cells. Click for a larger and more detailed view.
