Most, but not all, of this blood smear is scanned for viewing with the virtual microscope. You will need to click on the link below to open the viewer for this slide. The blue rectangle in the navigation thumbnail in the upper left corner of the viewer will move as you drag the slide around. The rectangle indicates the portion of the slide's specimen currently visible in the virtual microscope's magnified view. Use the viewer's pan and zoom controls to explore the virtual slide.
In the BLOOD smear, examine white blood cells. Each has a darkly stained nucleus, although the cytoplasm may not be consistently prominent in all cells. Some cells have divided or lobulated nuclei. Note that the white blood cells (WBCs) are larger then the red blood cells (RBCs).
